Supplies and Consumables – a list of what we do, and don’t, supply.
Water and drains
Natural spring water is supplied from our own well. It is filtered, and cleaned using UV light; no chemicals are added. Waste water is pumped to our eco treatment plant. To avoid jamming the system, please follow the “3Ps” rule for toilets – only pee, poo and (toilet) paper down the loo; anything else, please use the sanitary bags provided and put in the black waste bin. Similarly, no oils or fats down the sink, please use kitchen towel to mop up and put in the black waste bin.
Heating & hot water
Central heating is by “combi” boiler, so hot water is on demand. The master bedroom’s shower is electric. The central heating controller is in the entrance area.
Internet
The wifi router is by the stairs; a sticker on the front provides the router name and password.
Log Burner
A starter pack of logs and kindling is supplied from October to April. There is a separate guide to the log burner. Please empty the ash into the small steel bin outside.
Rubbish
Pembrokeshire County Council is very keen on recycling (so are we!); please carefully separate rubbish into the correct colour-coded recycle bins provided by the kitchen back door:
- BLUE flip-lid stacked bin: CLEAN hard plastics, cans, empty aerosols, aluminium foil, juice and milk cartons. NOT brown or black plastic, plastic film, crisp packets and other thin plastics. Please remove any food waste from packaging.
- YELLOW flip-lid stacked bin: CLEAN card and cardboard (no sticky tape, no plastic window inserts – these go in general waste)
- GREEN flip-lid stacked bin: Paper (no gift wrap or gift bags, tissues, kitchen roll or other food-contaminated waste – these go in general waste. No brown paper – put with cardboard)
- Small green CADDY: food waste (raw or cooked). Must be in the biodegradable bags provided. Food ONLY please (no packaging).
- Large RED lidded floor bin: CLEAN glass bottles and jars
- Larger BLACK bin: General waste not included above. Strictly no food please, as general waste is only collected every 3 weeks, and the bags are liable to be ripped apart by local wildlife if they smell food.
When the bin is full, please empty into the larger matching Blue, Yellow, Green, Red bins / large flip-lid Black bin / small green food caddies (as appropriate), outside the kitchen back door. Please secure the lids against prowling foxes and badgers. Please put dog waste bags in a black bin bag, in the designated outside black bin (labelled “Dog Waste Bags Only”).
Spare food caddy bags, and a few black bin bags, are provided in the utility cupboard.
Coffee Percolator
Place ground coffee in the steel mesh hopper in the lid. Please empty used coffee grounds into the food waste caddy, and remove and rinse the filter. The percolator will keep coffee warm for 30 minutes then will auto switch off. No need for paper filters, but if you prefer to use, there are some filters in the top drawer underneath the unit. Please turn off after use.
Bed Linen
Extra blankets and pillows may be found in the wardrobes and drawers.
Cot & Highchair
A highchair is located under the stairs. A travel cot is available by request.
Dogs
Spare dog beds, doggy towels and bowl can be found under the stairs. A folding stair gate may be found at the bottom of the stairs, this should be used to keep dogs downstairs. In addition, a large dog crate is available on request – single door, height 77cm x width 72cm x depth 108cm. Please keep dogs off the furniture, and please clear up dog waste from the garden and dispose in black bin bags in the designated outside black bin (labelled “Dog Waste Bags Only”).
Outside
The enclosed garden around the Coach House is for your private use. You may also wander in our garden on the other side of the lane, by the stream and pond, as far down as where the lane crosses the stream (beyond which is the neighbour’s garden, though the public bridleway continues past their house). Please note that the pond is up to 4ft deep and is unfenced; please keep dogs and children under control. No swimming or boating in the pond please.
Laundry
The Candy dryer has a lot of settings and display information! The User Guide is linked here. The simplest is to select either Super Easy Iron (for ironing), or Eco Cotton (for hanging), or Mix & Dry (mixed fabrics), and press the Start/Pause button (the furthest right). Please empty the lint filter (inside the door) and the water drawer (flip down the bottom flap, pull out the water reservoir at the base).
There is a rotary clothes airer (in 2 parts) stored in the shed. The slot for the airer is marked by a stone in the lawn.
Shed
In the shed on the rear patio, you will find bbq and beach equipment for your use; please clean the bbq after use (ashes in the small steel bin). Also the rotary clothes airer is stored here.
Bikes may be stored in the shed by the parking area; please ask for a key. There is a dedicated cycle way “Brunel Way” on the old Haverfordwest – Neyland rail route.
Parking for 2 or 3 cars is on the gravel area by the entrance steps; please keep the area in front of the carports, and the access lane, clear. If you need more parking, please ask.
Local walks
There are a number of local paths and bridleways. Most are signposted and well trodden; not all paths shown on Ordnance Survey maps follow the route or are walkable! Inside the door to the understairs cupboard, is a framed local Ordnance Survey map. We’ve highlighted a few local recommended walks on our Local Walks page.
