The Stone Crab (cafe / restaurant), The Harbour, Saundersfoot,SA69 9HE – stonecrab.co.uk, 01834813651. Small harbour-front informal cafe, specialising in fresh seafood, excellent. Very popular, so need to book.

Lan Y Mor Restaurant, Coppet Hall Beach, Saundersfoot, SA69 9AJ –lanymorsaundersfoot.co.uk. Upmarket dining with fine sea views in a glass-fronted pavilion.

The Water Garden Seaview Restaurant (Chinese restaurant / takeaway), The Rath, Milford Haven, SA73 2QA – 01646 697945. Hard to find, unpretentious restaurant set in waterfront gardens, good food, views across the waterway to the oil refinery opposite, which is quite pretty at night!

The Alumchine Restaurant, Neyland Yacht Club, Great Eastern Terrace, Neyland SA73 1QA – thealumchine.co.uk, 01646 600267. Reasonable food, seafood a speciality, service can be slow, views across the waterway.

Ferry House Inn (restaurant / bar), Hazelbeach, Llanstadwell, Milford Haven, SA73 1EG – ferryhouseinn.webs.com, 01646 600270. Good pub grub, good views across the waterway.

The Shed Bistro, Porthgain, SA62 5BN – theshedporthgain.co.uk, 01348 831518. Harbourfront seafood restaurant, very good food. Best to book.

Martha’s Kitchen, Cosheston Garden Centre, Pembroke Dock (but near Cosheston), SA72 4SX. Facebook page, 01646 621420. Busy and popular bistro cafe/restaurant. Simple good food at keen prices.

Black Pool Mill Restaurant, Narberth, SA67 8BL (not actually in Narberth, but on the Eastern Cleddau river near Minwear and Canaston Bridge) – blackpoolmill.com, 01834 862444. Restored flour mill with tables amongst the preserved mill gear, good food, best to book.

Rib & Oyster, Carmarthen Road, Kilgetty, SA68 0UF – ribandoyster.co.uk, 01267 643390 / 07974 913386. (butcher, fishmonger, takeaway, restaurant). A small unpretentious restaurant at the back of this good butcher and fishmonger, specialising in seafood and steak. Good food, best to book.

The Old Point House / Cafe Mor, East Angle Bay, Angle, SA71 5AS – theoldpointhouse.wales, 01646 792100. A hard-to-find atmospheric quirky old pub / restaurant / burger shack (Cafe Mor) on a sea inlet. Cafe Mor is famous for seafood baps and burgers, the restaurant does pub grub and fresh seafood. Good food, though pricey. Best to book at busy times, otherwise just roll up.

Gio Recchia Pizzeria. 2 Westgate Hill, Pembroke SA71 4LB. Opposite Pembroke Castle entrance. giopizzacontemporary.co.uk, 01646 683555. Italian pizza cafe. Good pizzas, though not the cheapest.

Milford Waterfront – Milford Haven. Milfordwaterfront.co.uk. Many restaurants and cafes here at the marina. Our recommendations are:

Martha’s Vineyard, Cleddau House, Milford Marina, Milford Haven, SA73 3AA – marthasvinyard.co.uk , 01646 697083. Good food and bar, pleasant views from the terrace overlooking the marina.

Paternoster Farm, Hundleton, SA71 5RX – linktr.ee/PaternosterFarm. No phone number. Hard to find, expensive, need to book well in advance, in a converted cow shed, only open at weekends, set menu only, no alternatives for food allergies etc. But probably the best restaurant in Pembrokeshire.

Narberth – known as a “foodie” market town, our recommendations are:

Ultracomida (Spanish tapas / bar / deli ), 7 High St., Narberth, SA67 7AR – ultracomida.co.uk, 01834 861491. Cannot book, usually queue to sit at shared tables, but good food and atmosphere.
