Castles

There are notable castles you can visit at

Pembroke

Carew

Manorbier

Llawhaden

Cilgerran

Picton Castle (Intact and furnished. Splendid extensive gardens). Our favourite.

Archaeology and ancient buildings

There are numerous ancient forts, cromlechs (burial tombs), old churches and ruins.

Perhaps the best are:

St. David’s Cathedral & The Bishop’s Palace

Pentre Ifan cromlech (near Brynberian)

St. Govan’s Chapel (near Bosherston)

St. Non’s Chapel (near St. David’s)

Treleddyd-fawr (near St. David’s). No public access but a public footpath passes in front of this photogenic old traditional Pembrokeshire cottage. (Map location)

St. Gwyndaf Church, Llanwnda

Plus our local “Hanging Stone” cromlech – see Local Walks page.
